Suggest Treatment For Chronic Bronchitis And Cough

I have a history of chronic bronchitis and also a history of heart disease (10 years since last artery stent - total 4 stents - on blood thinner, blood pressure & cholesterol medicine - under cardiologist & pulmonologist care). Over the last few months my breathing has become more labored especially at night negatively affecting my sleep. I often feel like I am drowning - loud gurgling / bubbling like sounds when I breath, especially while lying on my back. I use my respirator more often than usual (Albuterol Sulfate) - 5 or 6 times at night when I cant breath and also during the day. I cough up phlegm often but over the last month or so I cough up what seems like clear water - I wake sometimes with a mouthful of water after a coughing fit. I now have to use a nebulizer at least once a day, usually before I go to bed otherwise I cant sleep because of all the noise my lungs make and the water and phlegm. I have added Budesonide to the nebulizer mixed with the Albuterol which seems to make the effect last longer so I only have to use the respirator once or twice during the night. I am being treated for Chronic Bronchitis but it seems like it is getting worse the coughing up water is new (last 30-60 days) so I called my pulmonologist and he prescribed a course of prednisone treatment (which I have had in the past when it my condition got worse) - again the new symptom is the gurgling and coughing up water - prior it has only been phlegm - I am wondering if increased use of the nebulizer (used only in rare emergency cases - maybe once every 30-60 days in the last 6 months to over the past month have been using almost daily - sometimes skipping a day and other times using 2x in one day) may be causing the clear fluid in my cough (helping me to breath but also causing build up of fluid in the lungs and the gurgling sounds??? ) Current Breathing medicines - for nebulizer Albuterol Sulfate - 2.5mg / 2ml Budesonide - 0.5mcg/2ml Respirator - Albuterol Sulfate - 90mcg Thanks Chris

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hi. I can understand your concern.
This coughing up of clear liquids could be related to your heart issues. As fluid overload in lungs due to weak pumping of heart causes it called as pulmonary odema, consult your cardiologist as you will need echo and chest x ray to assess the saem.
Don't worry, you will be alright.
Hope I have solved your query.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
