Hello,
Acute bronchitis is a condition where you have an onset of bronchial infection when you have been previously healthy. Chronic bronchitis is an inflammation of the bronchial tubes that is persistent.
People rarely get hospitalized for either acute or chronic bronchitis unless they have underlying lung disease that is so severe that they have trouble maintaining oxygen saturation due to their lung disease.
If you have either acute or chronic bronchitis and smoke or are around smokers please do everything possible to avoid any smoke intake into the lungs.
Regards
