Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 66 year old man in good health. My only chronic issue is diverticulosis. I am considering taking palmetto to help with urination problems. Should I do this or is it advisable to talk with my personal physician regarding a Rx? I have good insurance and cost is not an issue.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
If diverticulitis is chronic it needs to be assessed for its cause & extent. Once that is known, you will be advised for specific treatment like alterations in diet, antibiotics, or surgery. Please consult a gastroenterologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
