Suggest Treatment For Chronic Drainage In Throat With Clear Mucous

I have this cronic drainage down my throat. When I am able to get it to come up it is thick almost clear mucus. I voice sounds rough and I am always clearing my throat. In Florida where we have a second home it is somewhat better. I am 58 and tired also I have a queasy stomach and consitapation at times.

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you chronic drainage in throat with clear mucous which is due to inflammation in the sinus, throat or nasal lining. Need not to worry much and you should consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated. You should take antibiotics like Augmentin or Azithromycin along with anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen and decongestant nasal sprays. you should take mucolytics like Ambroxol. Saline nasal spray can help in loosening the mucous and easy draining. Do steam inhalations and use a humidifier in your room. You should sleep with head slightly raised so that the sinus can easily clear off.
