I am suffering from chronic granular pharyngitis due to Staphylococcus aureus for the last three years. It is getting worse as now I catch cold very fast and Have throat congestion for whole time. I can see white abcess sort of on my right side of throat and it is very painful for me to talk, swallow. I have taken rounds of antibiotics like amoxycillin, azythromycin and cephodoxime. I have gargled with wokadine for two months. Cephodoxime relieved a bit but it reocurred. Kindly suggest medicine

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

You can do a throat swab and start antibiotics according to the culture reports. Linezolid could be a better choice. Consult an ENT specialist and he will direct you accordingly. Do warm saline gargles for symptomatic relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
