Suggest Treatment For Chronic Headache In An Elderly Person

im 68 and have chronic daily headache unless i take otc analgesics. this has gone on for decades. ive been to accupuncture. neurologist, chiropractor, several ENT ALLERGISTS. Im now wondering if effexor might be the next thing. i have lots of tension in my jaws. just got examined for tmd and that doesnt seem to be the problem according to the specialist. im afraid of botox injections. every 12 weeks for the rest o9f my life

Yes, you can try effexor or another medication in the anti depressant family of medications.
These medications are commonly used to treat chronic pain in persons who do not have a history of depression whatsoever.

You may need to consider the diagnosis of rebound headaches, these are headaches that occur as a result of the long term use of medications for headaches.
This means that in some persons , the persistent use of the pain killers, results in a type of headache.
Withdrawal of medication over a month to 6 month period can cause resolution of symptoms in the majority of persons.

You should also discuss this option with your doctor
