Suggest Treatment For Chronic Lower Back Pain

I have a chronic lower back pain on the left side. it is right above the pelvic girdle but not on the spine. It is difficult to bend over or lift, and I cannot stand for very long. I saw a ortho three years ago who told me it was arthritius not a disc. It is very annoying and keeps me from playing golf and tennis. I am over 70

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have chronic lower back pain . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to may reasons like muscle or ligament strain , bulging or ruptured disks , arthritis , skeletal irregularities and osteoporosis .I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon again for proper examination and treatment . Doctor may order X-ray , MRI or CT scans , blood tests , bone scan and electromyography . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxants , ointments to rub into your skin at the site of your pain , codeine or hydrocodone and tricyclic antidepressants . Doctor may also recommend surgery or physical therapy . For now apply warm compresses and take proper rest .
