Suggest Treatment For Chronic Lung Infection And Hydrocephalus

Hi, my name is Beth and I am a NICU nurse. I became one because my son London, was born premature 8 months ago and was very sick and I was inspired to pay forward what the wonderful team did for us. In a nutshell he was close to going on echmo. He had severe PPHN, he got a Grade 3 IVH, pneumothorax, now has Chronic lung and hydrocephalus. He was given a 50% chance of having CP. So now he is 8 months old- he receives PT once a week. He has made lots of progress and so far it doesn t appear that he has CP. Now today, I brought him to our NICU (where he was) to show him off and the Dr said Wow he looks stiff - like hypertonic in his back He did upon examination. I felt like I missed something, I thought he was just strong. PT has never said anything about it. So I am worried that he does infact have neurological damage. What should be my next step?

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hello,

As you explain the history you just send him to a paediatrician neurologist for further follow-up.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Jnikolla, Pulmonologist
