Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
In my opinion you should get done fine needle aspiration cytology from lung mass to rule out malignancy. Because COPD ( chronic obstructive pulmonary disease ) patients are at increased risk of lung cancer.
So first rule out lung cancer.
Treatment of COPD is as follows.
1. Smoking cessation. This is the most important step.
2. Inhaled bronchodilators and corticosteroid.
3. Pulmonary rehabilitation programme. In this chest physiotherapy and deep breathing exercise are done. These will improve your lung function and decrease the symptoms.
4. Adult respiratory vaccines like pneumococcal and influenza to prevent future respiratory tract infection.
So better to consult pulmonologist and discuss all these. First rule out malignancy.
