Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have cronic tinnitus, onset spring 2008 following a surgical procedure. Ringing is persistent and bothers me more at times than others. Doesn t really impact sleep, work or other areas of my life but I m always aware of it, and I would say the condition has worsened gradually over time. I have sometimes have a sense of noticeable fullness in my ears, sometimes some palpable discomfort, not terrible pain or anything, where my jaw joins the base of my ears. I have been checked out more than once by my family doctor with the only confirmation being, I have Tinnitus and there are no real ways to stop it.
As per your query you have problem of tinnitus after surgical procedure . Tinnitus can be cause by many factors like stress , temporomandibular joint problem , wisdom tooth , cervical spondolysis and increase blood pressure . The most common problem related to tinnitus is hearing loss . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order certain test like audiometery , CT scan ,MRI , low and high pitched ringing to rule out conditions like hearing loss , exposure to loud noises , earwax build-up , middle ear infection and Ménière's disease . Doctor may treat it according to the diagnosis , he/she may prescribe medicine like eprisone , sedative and antibiotics . For now drink green teat thrice a day and take proper rest .
