General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

I am sorry for the difficult period that you and your husband are experiencing.

In terms of diet, care needs to be taken that he receives enough calories and protein in this diet. Choose lean protein such as legumes, poultry or fish though sometimes the poultry or fish may be difficult to digest.

Persons greatly benefit if liquid or powdered supplements are used to help boost their nutritional status.

Regular exercise is possible is also important to prevent him from slipping into a cycle of inactivity and then wasting of the muscles.

I hope this helps
