Suggest Treatment For Clear Blister Between Thumb And Index Finger

My brother had suddenly gotten a huge clear blister on his hand between his thumb and first finger. The doctor took the fluid out of it, but today it came back even bigger and now his hand is swollen. He is a dialysis patient and takes about 26 pills a day. The doctor doesn t know what it is and has never seen anything like it. Do you know what it possibly could be or what is causing it? Thank you so much.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Is this close to dialysis fistula site? Is there any pain or fever? Any redness of surrounding skin? Can you share a picture? A blister with surrounding edema / swelling is most commonly caused by skin infection(impetigo). A smear test of the fluid can confirm this. This can be treated with antibiotics like Amoxyclav for 5-7 days. Kindly discuss with your doctor. Meanwhile, apply antibiotic creams like Mupirocin there twice daily.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
