Suggest Treatment For Clogged Ears After Treating Sinus Infection

I was diagnosed with a severe sinus infection and double ear infections. I was prescribed Amox-Clad 875 mg. every 12 hours plus an otic ear drop Neomycin-Polymicin-hydrocortizone 4x's per day. My ears were plugged up so bad I couldn't hear. Now after taking this medication for 7 days my sinus infection is gone but my ears are still plugged up. I pinch my nose trying to open them but it doesn't work. However, both of my ears are popping like they want to open, they're just not doing it. What else can I do to unstop my ears --- I'm getting really tired of these ears and asking my husband to talk louder and repeat himself. Thank you.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that there is Blocked Eustachian tubes due to accumulation of mucous or fluid in the Eustachian tube that are present between the middle ear and back of nose..
Due to clogged Eustachian tube there is clogging of the ears and reduced hearing..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a he can do an Otoscopic examination to confirm the cause..
In case if you have blocked eustachian tube you will be advised to take a short course of antibiotics like another course of Amoxicillin and Clavulanic acid, anti allergics like Levocetrizine, decongestants nasal sprays containing Xylometazoline and at times drainage can be establised by a small surgical procedure..
In severe cases Pressure Equalization tubes can be put in ears to ease in draining as well as stabilize pressure in middle ear..
You should avoid popping the ears vigorously as it can injure the eardrum..
