ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
Since your child has ear discharge, we should look into the cause.

Recurrent ear discharge in the background of failed tympanoplasty suggest a mastoid infection that should be addressed.

Other causes could be

Fungal infection or

Cholesteatoma-- which is a more serious type of infection, usually discharge would be foul smelling.

If your child had fungal infection, he would have some sort of pain or it might have been controlled with ear drops.

So, it points more towards chronic infection of the middle ear and mastoid. Consulting a specialist will be best at this point.
