Suggest Treatment For Cold And Low Fever

i picked up a bad cold about 6 days ago, i was traveling by air so i thought it was important to get checked out, went to the md on day 2 he said it was just a bad virus and should pas on its own in a few days. i now have a bad sinus cold ear aches low fever of 100f, i cant sleep at night because as soon as i lay down i cant stop coughing, blood in nasil mucus, dark yellow hard mucus being coughed up and blown out in the early morning. do i need to see a md or will this pass on its own in time?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of upper respiratory tract infection . Well your doctor hs said the right thing that virus infection usually go away in few days by its own , but sometimes when infection become severe as in your case , it nee medical attention . Sometimes initially the infection is viral but with times secondary bacterial infection occur , which cause further complication . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist without any delay . Doctor may order throat swab test , viral culture test , CT scan and blood test to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescrine anti viral ( acyclovir ) , anti bacterial ( amoxicillin ) , decongestant along with anti inflammatory . For now take steam twice a day to relieve the congestion and drink warm water with one spoon honey in it .
