Hello, I ve had a cold for 10 days now with lots of coughing. I have constant pain behind my left eye and left temple now that sharpens when I cough. (It started hurting on the 8th day of coughing) It just hurts and feels like my eye is going to pop out if I keep coughing.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your problem can be due to sinusitis. Better to have an evaluation by ENT specialist to rule out this. Using nasal decongestants sprays like oxymetazoline will be helpful. You can also take antihistamines like cetirizine or Benadryl, and NSAIDs like ibuprofen for pain. Taking chewable vitamin C is good also. If there is yellowish sputum, antibiotic therapy might also be required.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nishad BN
