Suggest Treatment For Cold, Sore Throat And Fever In A Child
Hi, my daughter 3.5 years suffering from cold, sore throat and fever since 2 days. Gave her Dolpar125 suspension 8 ml. (13.7:kg body weight). But when it was above 102 degrees I had to give meftal -P. But fever is continuing on 3rd day. Am I supposed to give antibiotic as well?
Understanding your concern. As per your query your daughter have symptoms of cold, sore throat and fever which seems to be due to bacterial infection leading to strep throat.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to maintain proper oral hygiene and avoid giving cold carbonated beverages to child. Give child steam inhalation 3 times a day. Take soft foods to avoid irritation to the throat. Throat lozenges one every 4 hours is helpful. You should take you take nasal decongestant sprays, antihistamines and antibiotic combination as infection is present. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper check up and start treatment accordingly. Doctor may order blood and throat swab test. Doctor may prescribe antibiotic course along with antiinflammatory medications.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
