Suggest Treatment For Cold Sore

I have devolved a cold sore again, I know I am stressed which is probably the cause of this nasty infection reoccurring nearly every 3 months... I have used a cold sore cream which I purchased from the local supermarket. However I was prescribed Flucloxacillin for an infected burn, which cleared up without having to take them.. Can I take them to assist in clearing up the infectious cold sore?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Flucloxacillin is an antibiotic, it would treat bacterial infections.

Cold sores are caused by viral infection particularly the herpes 1 virus. It would not respond to an antibiotic.
Anti viral medication would be needed.
Examples are acyclovir or valacyclovir

I hope this helps
