Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband had a an ear infection last week which he is on antibiotics for but today he started with severe congestion, ear pressure, runny nose. This also coincided with me using bleach to clean our bathroom. I m wondering if benadryl would help? Could it be an allergic reaction to the bleach or just a flare up to his ear infection?
First of all, it's sad to know what your husband had been going through lately.
Based on the history you have shared, yes, it may have been triggered by bleach. Kindly avoid using potential allergens around him. Using antihistamines like cetirizine or loratidine can be helpful. Benadryl can also be used. Nasal decongestant should also be used.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
