Suggest Treatment For Constant Cough With Yellow Mucus

I have stopped taking Ramipril a week ago and still have a dreadful cough. Doctor examined me last week and said I have an upper repratory tract problem caused by a virus. The dry,tickly cough,yellow mucus didn't seem to worry my GP but I want to know how long this cough is likely to last.It is making me so depressed,fearful that I may choke and difficult to swallow at times.I cannot sleep due to constant coughing and am drinking constantly,sucking throat sweets etc...nothing is easing.Help!

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of constant cough with yellow mucus which is due to upper respiratory tract infection and it could be due to chronic pulmonary disease and allergic bronchitis.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take steam inhalation along with cough expectorants. You should take combination of bronchodilators and antihistamine drug. Visit pulmonologist once and get chest X-ray done. You should go for pulmonary function tests along with blood and sputum test first and get it examined. Start treatment after proper diagnosis. Take proper course of antibiotics. Sip on warm water. Avoid cold carbonated beverages.
