Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i have headaches all the time and they are getting worse ,they are on the temples and side of my head ,sometime they feel like some has shot me in my head hurt bad make it hard to most of anything, most of the it is just a sharpe pain and sometime just dull hard pain, cannot put a number scale to them, my level are higher than most, and cannot get the VA med to help .they set up an appointment for me and than call it off for no reason and cannot get another one.
Headaches can be due to different possible causes such as tension headaches, migraines, trauma, mass in the skull or brain, cluster headaches, sinus disease, side effect of medication, neuralgia (nerve related pain).
Headaches on the side are commonly due to tension headaches but other causes may need to ruled out by imaging such as a CT scan. Neuralgia should also be considered since you state it is a sharp shooting pain.
If you cannot see your normal doctor, you may want to see if there is an alternative available
I hope this helps
