Suggest Treatment For Constant Pain In Lower Leg

I have pain in the lower part of my left leg. It s not sharp, but a constant ache. The pain is not just in lower section but part of thigh as well. There is bruising on the shin however Ive never bumped my leg. At night the pain is bad and during the day I can barely walk the stairs. I have had multiple surgeries on right leg, last one being in December of 2014. My sister had a blood clot back in March of 2013 that went to the lung and caused a herat attack. She had to have a heart transplant in the summer of 2013 at age 41.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is understandable to concerned especially with a sister with a blood clot but this may not be the case for you.

It should be ruled out however by physical examination from your doctor and possibly a doppler ultrasound.
This is a test that takes a look at the blood vessels in the legs to see if a clot is present.

It is possible the pain is related to muscle inflammation only but this can be determined.

I hope this helps
