Suggest Treatment For Constant Stomach Aches For A 6-year-old Kid
Hi There, I have a boy who will be turning 6 in sept, he goes to Kindy, very emotional child, complains a lot about stomach ache, all test have been done and he has constipation issues which is being treated. He also has eczema for which also he is being treated and much better now..my issue is that his constant stomach aches are worrying me as I get calls from school to pick him up early and he is all well when he gets home..he is overall a intelligent, handsome little boy..always in everyone s good books.
He needs to have stool analysis to rule out worms infestation and ultrasound abdomen to rule out any local pathology. Sometimes pain can be due to constipation as you mentioned but if the issue is resolved and he is still complaining of pain, it needs to be worked up. Interventional investigation like endoscopy may not be needed at this stage. Oral analgesics like acetaminophen and anti spasmodic like drotavarine can be helpful. Antacids like sucralfate may also be needed.
Wishing him a speedy recovery. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
