Suggest Treatment For Constant Upper Abdominal Pain

Hello - I ve had some upper abdominal pain for a few weeks. It s constant, across the front of my chest. I went to my doctor, have had some blood work done. Everything normal (hemoglobin, white blood cell count). He wants me to get an upper GI in a few weeks. A few years ago I found out I had gallstones. They aren t a problem so we left them alone. No heart problems, not obese. I ve had some coughing fits the last few days, difficult to eat much food. I feel very full after eating a bagel. I have moderate asthma (controlled), take blood pressure medicine.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are having symptoms of constant upper abdominal pain which is most probably due to all of the changes taking place in your body such as electrolyte imbalance, food intolerance, allergic reaction. However, it could be due to an illness gastritis or IBS. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to get up slowly and do not lie down right after eating , eat small meals or snacks often, try not to skip meals . If condition doesn't get better in 2-3 days the consult gastroenterologist for proper examination . Doctor may prescribe laxative , anaspas , omeprazole or antacid. You should eat cold food instead of hot, eat lot of fibrous food like fresh vegetables and fruits or ginger can sometimes help an upset stomach , eating salty potato chips can help settle the stomach enough to eat a meal

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
