Suggest Treatment For Constipation And Mucus Discharge From The Rectum

For the past few days I have had a mucus discharge from my rectum and I am constipated. I do not have a lot of pain. I have some cramping at which point is when the mucus is discharged. Can I take anything for the constipation? I am making an appointment with a Gastroenterologist.
