Suggest Treatment For Constipation In An Elderly Person

My 73 yr old male friend has constipation, went to ER today, X-ray showed no blockage but dr said it may be gummy colon, And slowed down. He has done a lot of Otc treatments, fiber,lots of water, mag citrate, laxative, castor oil, probiotics, still nothing. What else can he do?

Constipation at this age could be related to decreased motility of intestine or faulty dietary habits

I would like further information to find out the underlying cause for this constipation
Are you diabetic or having thyroid disorder
are you habitually constipated or recently developed this problem

I would advise you certain life style modifications like
Have plenty of dietary fibers which increase stool content
You can take laxative like lactulose or stool softening agent like liquid paraffin in proper dosage
You should have lukewarm water with lemon juice in early morning after wakening up
abdominal exercise will definitely help you
