Suggest Treatment For Cough And Chest Congestion

I have had a cough and chest congestion that is extremely thick stringy mucus, it s seems that it s so thick it is extremely difficult to expel. It has a unpleasant taste, and i can feel it in the back of my throat but only small amounts come out. They are thick stringy and glob like. And what appears to be tiny brown specks when I really observe it. What could be the reason behind it, and is it cause for concern?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
This is called inssisipation of the thick mucus and gets struct to the part.
The major causes are dehydration, hot atmosphere and infection .
I would advise you the following:
First of all do not try to excessively remove as this causes more injury to the underlying mucosal lining and dryness.
Take a mucolytic, plenty of warm liquids, steam inhalations and remove only if you feel that it is loose enough.
Get examined by an ENT to see that there is no underlying tumor or so, and you also get a prescription for an antibiotic, mucolytic and assurance.
I find this answer helpful
