Suggest Treatment For Cough And Difficulty In Breathing

I have been sick for the past 9 days. Went to urgent care last week, finished my antibiotics and steriods but still feel like Im not much better. Im also having a hard time breathing now after I cough so hard or do anything excessive. Should I go back to the doctor because I can still hear wheezing in my throat and when I cough, my head pounds and I feel like passing out.

Hello,

I think yes, you should get back to your doctor. You need re-evaluation to see if the infection is still there. Meanwhile, should:

- drink plenty of fluids especially tea, water with oral rehydration salts, soups
- raise your head from shoulders when you sleep
- apply vapour rub on the chest and back at bedtime during the night
- take antihistaminic at bedtime
- take mucolytic 3 times daily
- rinse with warm water and salt

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
