Suggest Treatment For Cough And Scar Tissue On Lungs

Head and throat seem to be full of mucus when in bed at night also a very deep cough persists I do have scar tissue on my lungs and am in care of Pulmonologist - he gave me a prescription for Omeprazole which is for gurge and that does nothing for this condition. This has been going on for way over a year sometimes worse than others - could it be an allerg and an allergy med. could help?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As the issue of cough is from one year, there can be chronic bronchitis, asthma or allergy condition needs to be evaluated in greater details. Primary work up with x-ray chest to see pulmonary markings and any lung parenchyma changes; pulmonary function test to look for FEV1 and FVC with ratio evaluation to manage best possible guidelines of therapy. Primary care with deep breathing exercises, walking in fresh air, YOGA and antibiotics to cover gram positive infection bacteria.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
