Suggest Treatment For Cough Caused Due To Swallowing The Saliva

Hi, I am a 48 years old male. I do accidentally swallow the saliva and I caugh spontaneously after that. I had to drink plenty of water to get it controlled. This is the recent problem, occurring last couple of years. Eventhough the frequency of happening is very less, it is annoying when I am in a meeting or conference call. Please help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

Some advice that I can give to you are:

-Slow down and swallow when speaking.
-Sleep with your head propped up so that saliva can flow down the throat.
-Sleep on your side instead of your back.
-Raise the head of your bed by a few inches to keep stomach acid in your stomach.
-Drink alcohol in moderation.
-Eat smaller meals.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
