Hi I went the doctors today my 10 month old baby has been ill for a week cold and cough sickness and diarrhea but this morning it seemed to have gotten worse so I went the doctors he said it will be a viral infection so he s given him antibiotics just wondered if it is normal for him to be so drowsy he s had calpol before and not been this drowsy
Understanding your concern. As per your query your child have symptoms of cough, cold and diarrhea which is mainly due to poor immunity of body and could be viral infection as well. Child's symptoms are resembling that of flu and normally takes 3 days for viral fever to go. Need not to worry about it. Yes drowsiness is normal and if these symptoms keeps persisting, visit pediatrician once again and get it examined. You should go for chest X-ray, blood and sputum test of child. If fever is high give crocin every 4 hourly and give proper rest without any discomfort. Give diet rich in multivitamins along with plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration. Avoid giving child any cold liquids and apply mist humidifiers in room.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
