My baby is 10 month and has now had a cold for a couple of weeks he s developed a crackling cough and crackling sound when he breathing. At some stages he has shortness of breath and it can take him up to 4-5 seconds to catch his breath again also he has lost his appetite which is unusual for my usually healthy baby boy what should I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms of your baby seem to be related to an upper respiratory tract infection. I suggest to use mucolytic drops to help with the cough. I also suggest using a vitamin supplement to help with the decreased appetite. If the symptoms continue for more than three to five days you should see a pediatrician for a physical examination.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
