Suggest Treatment For Coughing, Loose Bowels, Fatigue

My husband age 69 has coughing, loose bowels, extreme fatigue. He had a heart attack followed by stent(three) inserted about eight years ago. He saw a doctor yesterday who diagnosed allergies to plant material. He has had over ten bowel movements today.

Thanks for question-
I consider preventing Dehydration should be the most important step.
Home made ORS or readymade should be given after every bowel movement, around 200-300 ml. Fatigue is also due to dehydration and possibly low grade fever. Not to overhydrate, considering history of stenting and heart attack , possibly low pumping by heart.
Well, from this short history , its difficult to say that cause of loose bowels is infective or not.
Try, some over the counter cough suppressants for atleast a day or two or tell me about doctor prescription. i am concern about auscultation(stethoscope listening) findings by doctor.
warning signs for taking him to ER- low urine output and drowsiness
