Suggest Treatment For Coughing

I have had severe coughing all week. My chest and ribs hurt. When I try to eat or drink I end up coughing worse. I finished the antibiotics the Dr gave me, he thought I might have a sinus infection. Over the counter cough meds are not helping. I feel awful. I don t seem to have a fever. What should I do?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a simple upper respiratory infection. As of now you can start on a short course of antibiotics preferably levoflox.

If symptoms persist better to consult a pulmonologist and get evaluated. In that case, you might require a sputum culture and chest X-ray also.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
