Suggest Treatment For Cracked Heels

I am having a problem with the skin on my feet. I m getting a dryness, peeling and cracking around my heels. It seems to be spreading beyond the heels to the outer edges of my feet and on one of the souls. There is no redness associatated with these symptoms. I ve been using lotions, vitamin E oils and have tried athlete s foot spary. None of these things seem to be helping. I am on the drug Humira. I ve read one of the causes of heel dryness and cracks is lowered immunity, which is what Humira does. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain cracked heels or Heel Fissures leads to formation of thick, dry and cracked skin of the heels leading to painful deep grooves..

It can occur due to a number of causes like:
-Poor feet hygiene and walking barefeet.
-Obesity.
-Long standing hours.
-Fungal infection.
-Wearing high heels and ill-fitting shoes.
-while conditions like diabetes, kidney diseases, thyroid disorders and circulation problems can also be a cause..

-You should always wear footwear or slippers while walking.
-Soften your heels daily by soaking in a solution of mild shampoo in water and use a pumice stone to scrub the dead skin off..
-Apply Emollients like Petroleum jelly to keep the heels soft as it will help in healing..
-You should drink plenty of water to maintain hydration..
-You can also apply a combination of antiseptic and antifungal creams over the heels..
-Heel cups can be worn to help in reducing strain over heels and promotion of healing..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
