Suggest Treatment For Cramps And Dehydration After Taking Iron Supplements
I started an iron supplement to help with the anemic dizziness but my other symptoms are more along the lines of dehydration, but I wanted another opinion. My period is a few days late, which is the main question I suppose.. Can dehydration and/or the iron supplement cause a late cycle? Or should I be buying some tests. I still get dizzy, but not as badly or as often, I don t get sick, but if I eat too early in the morning I do tend to feel nauseous, which tends to go away once I start drinking. Other than that I have just the general symptoms I get a few days before my period, slight cramping and all that.
General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Thanks for using health care magic for your health concern. Iron supplement is not likely to cause delay in period... it actually improves menstrual cycle. Dehydration .. yes... if it's severe & stressful it is likely to cause delay in period. You should wait for periods till it's delayed by 8 days. After that go for home pregnancy test ( of urine ).. in pregnancy it would be +ve. In case it is -ve you need to consult a gynecologist. Thanks.
