hi,
I understand your concern.
I understand your eagerness to get investigated & get exact diagnosis / state of Crohn's .- for this you had planned lower clonoscopy- and now you are scared to get it done because of pregnancy,
Form the imaging studies for diagnosing Chrohn's disease, X ray/ Bariyum meal/ ct scan / lower colonoscopy are not indicated in pregnancy,
Flexible sigmoidoscopy is safer procedure ,if it is a must- You must get advise from your obsttritian/gasteroenterologist before doing it.
Management of chrohn's in pregnancy -
- You have to consult your obstretitian/ gasteroenterologist, feto maternal specialist to moniter your baby's development& your chrohn's.
-certain drugs are contraindicated in pregnancy-so always consult & never get self medicated,/ also don't neglect any symptoms.
- Sonography/MRI are used for monitering & are safe,
- Start taking foloic acid like any normal pregnant woman.
You should be carefree if your Chron's is not flared up.In some patients chromn's improves automatically during pregnancy & there are lesser flares.
Thanks.
