Dear Doctor, my father had a cyst lower part of his ear. The doctor said that before my father undergo operation, he need first go for some test like biopsy.. After the biopsy result, the doctor diagnosed as TB, the operation cancelled,he prescribed medicines. After couple of months the treatment was complete, but my father complaining that the cyst was painful. What should the best that we can do? Is it more possible to remove the cyst?
If pain and swelling persists even after completion of anti tuberculosis treatment, it may need repeat analysis by an otolaryngologist and to get CT or MRI or lesion and a repeat biopsy to rule out any superimposed fungal infection and if any collection is present inside cyst, may need surgical resection or drainage.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
