Suggest Treatment For Cyst On The Placenta

My sons gf sent me this message. I cannot find any info on this. The baby is fine as of right now. I have a cyst on the placenta about 2inches which they are very concerned about and they say if it doesnt shrink, gets bigger or starts bleeding than I might have to deliver early. They told me to not do anything unless I absolutely had to because it could burst. I have to go every week to make sure that the baby is still getting enough fluid and nutrients and is moving around good. They said it was a genetic thing. Mom said she had cysts and they told her that she might not ever be able to have another baby after bubby so that s probably where I got it from. As long as it doesn t get any bigger or as long as it doesn t cut off any supply to her, she should be fine but if it doesn t go away I might have to have her by csection. He gave me strict orders not to do anything unless I absolutely had to and not to life anything over a few pounds cause it could cause it to burst

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Welcome to health care magic - I am Dr. Ganesh.

1. The placental cysts are rarely seen, 2 inches is big enough.
2.There is nothing much you can do any thing for the cyst, only thing you can do is monitor the cyst size, its consistency - clear cyst is mostly harmless.
3.If echogenic contents is worrisome, as it can be blood content.
4.Regular scans will help you to know about the baby well being and placenta condition.
5.Invasive procedures are done - but if it is necessary, and weeks of pregnancy.

Hope it helps you. any thing to ask, do not hesitate. Good luck.
