Suggest Treatment For Dark Purple Bruise On Inside Of Thigh

Yes please. Just noticed a long thin dark purple bruise from the inside of my right thigh down to the inside of my upper calf. Other than hiking this morning I cannot account for this. I am a 61 yr old female taking a baby aspirin daily due to Leiden five.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello,

I can understand your concern for the dark purple bruise on inside of thigh. After analyzing your query with diligence I can make out that you have simple bruising resulting from the intake of aspirin.
It is due to the fact that aspirin has a tendency to reduce the clotting mechanism and can cause bruise like eruptions. I suggest you to consult your doctor who prescribed you the aspirin and report this event. A reduction of the dose of aspirin or a change to other safer option can be done. For the present bruise you need not to do anything as it would subside by its own.
All the best.
