Suggest Treatment For Dark Red Sore On Buttock

Hi, I have a medium sized sore at the top of my bum crack it is a darkish red colour and has been oozing a bit and smells its rather painful and there are small flakes of skin on it where I assume its trying to heal. I think its a fungal infection and have started using Clotrimazole cream on it since yesterday. Should I continue using the cream? Does this sound like a fungal infection? It hasn t worsened since I have applied the cream so I assume it is doing some good though it says it could take weeks to clear it up? This is rather embarrassing that s why I ve been put off from going to see my GP. Regards

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of dark red sore on buttock which seems to be due to contact dermatitis and bacterial infection of hair follicles .

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to apply cold compresses and avoid any cosmetic product. Wear loose clothes and try to avoid synthetic clothes. Avoid touching or picking rash. Maintain complete hygiene. For now take benadryl twice a day. You should consult dermatologist for proper examination. Doctor may prescribe antihistamine, corticosteroid ointment and may give adrenaline shot.
