Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 43 yer old male (healthy, active, 6', 185) with chronic Hep B (20 +/- yrs) with no previous complications. I have only been on medication (Viread) for 3 yrs. I had an ultra sound today and there appears to be a tiny "dark spot" on the upper location on my liver. My Dr. is suggesting an MRI (and blood work to look for a special protein) for more clarification. I'm a little freaked out. Is the MRI the next best step or are there other, better options?
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein, I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can. MRI is good option, the best actually and should be done definitely since any suspicious spot on liver should be evaluated and tumor should be ruled out. However, the risk of tumor is low but should be exxkuded.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time. Kindly regards. Wish you a good health. DR. Ivan Rommstein
