Suggest Treatment For Degenerative Disc Disease

I have been told that I have 12 degenerated disc in my spine and that no surgery will help. I take pain meds for my pain. This started 4 1/2 years ago when my doctors did a mylogram on my spine and at that time it showed that I had 7 degenerated disc. I cannot have a mri because I have a pacemaker and a diffulator. So what is the long term outcome? The 12 degenerated disc are 7 in my neck and 5 in the lumbar section of my back.
