Suggest Treatment For Dehydration And UTI In An Elderly Person
Hi, My dad is 82 years old. He s been in and out of the hospital for fever & vomiting. He also huffs and puffs with minimal walking and is weak. He had a heart valve replacement several years ago. That has been checked and is okay. At first they said he has an infection somewhere but we can t pinpoint it and put him on anti-biotics and fluids for dehydration. He was still sick. Later they found ecoli and he s been on strong anti-biotics for 2 weeks and then for an additional 2 weeks. He currently has a urinary tract infection. My mom said there is something going on with his prostrate and thinks he will need surgery. All of this has been going on for a month. Any advice as to what may be going on? They can t seem to get him well. Could this be prostate cancer?
hi... for UTI infection ofloxacin tablet 200 mg twice day for 5 days.. for fluid replacement first you have to check fluid intake and output with blood pressure because excess fluid will cause lung and heart related problem.. if he is able to drink then by oral route you can provide fluid..else intravenous line. fluids from ORS , NORMAL SALINE , DEXTROSE , RINGER LACTATE be choosen accordingly.. so.. guidence of doctor is advosable
