Hi my name is Marquise Lanier I have an emotional disability and major depression disorder I have a tendency to lie when it is not necessary and when I lie I make things more difficult to the point where they lost faith in me and put me in to more trouble is there a reason why I do this?
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. You have emotional disability and major depressive disorder. The tendency of telling a lie even when it is not necessary could occur due to some impulsive control disorder. Pathological lying could be the reason for your symptoms. In my opinion you should consult a psychiatrist for proper treatment and evaluation. For depression medicines like SSRIs as Fluoxetine, Paroxetine, Sertraline etc can help. These medicines will help to improve your mood and will also reduce the episodes of compulsive lying behaviour. For more severe lying episodes consultation of a psychologist would be beneficial. Please consult a psychiatrist for prescription of these drugs.
Thanks, I hope this helps you. Take care
