Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve been prescribed lyrica for nerve damage pain on my pelvic floor. However I ve read about it way too much online (bad idea I know), and I m too terrified to start taking it. I have depression and anxiety. I don t want it to affect my memory or concentration. And I don t want to feel stoned . Help ease my worries please?
Went through your post, Lyrica contains Pregabalin and yes it does have certain side effects especially for initial 3 days like giddiness and excess sleepiness.
However, if a sustained release one is taken these side are less having said that it is one of the best drugs available for Neuropathic pain and considering its safety profile it has it can be taken safely and I can assure you if there are side effects they are temporary and disappear when you stop meds.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ashaq Parrey, General & Family Physician
