Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. Depression is a mood disorder that occur due to a number of factors and in most cases drugs like SSRIs or SNRIs help in improving the symptoms. But you dont want to take drugs and in such case psychological treatment can help to reduce the depression. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) can help to improve the symptoms of depression.

CBT involves multiple sessions in which psychologist and patient work together to find out abnormal faulty thought processes and cognitive distortions. Once abnormal thought processes which are increasing the risk of depression in day to day life are found then psychologist helps the patient to remove these faulty cognitive distortions and to lead normal life in day to day routine. The therapy runs a long course but have good efficacy comparable to medicines. Ideas of Hopelessness, worthlessness and helplessness are targeted and the faulty thoughts are removed. Please visit a psychologist for evaluation and help.

Hope this helps you. Thanks and Take care
