Hello thanks for asking from HCM

It is common in some persons to develop sadness of mood and other depressive symptoms after having some important life event like fracture in your son. The symptoms like sadness of mood, difficulty in rising from bed, difficulty in doing any work, anhedonia, loss of interest in anything etc can occur due to depression. But to make diagnosis of depression the symptoms must be persistent and should be present for at least 4 weeks. As there is also some precipitating event so such symptoms might be occurring due to adjustment disorder. Consult a psychiatrist for evaluation and treatment.
Medicines like low doses SSRIs as fluoxetine, paroxetine, sertraline etc help to improve the symptoms of depression. Apart from that try to spend your time in relaxation exercises, listening light music and yoga. This will help to lift up the mood.

Thanks, hope this helps you.
