Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have bipolar disorder, and I ve also been hit with bad postpartum depression. I m being pretty heavily medicated, which has helped with the depression and manic episodes, but I am still having one MAJOR problem. I fell 100% emotionally detached from my kids and husband. It has been crippling, and I don t know how or if I will ever feel happiness and love again. Do you have any advice on things that could possibly help? I m completely at a loss as what to do, but I don t want to live my life like this.
As you are on ample number of medications and over crowded drug basket, I would not recommend to add anything in that. Instead, I would like you to focus only on 2 things which may help you to drag out from this heavy depression for rest of your life, if done very thoroughly and sincerely by your heart. 1. YOGA and pranayam for 1 hour daily. 2. Opting BE POSITIVE attitude for life.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
