Suggest Treatment For Depression

My mother is currently taking Lexapro 40 mg. per day for depression. She is 90. Other meds have beeen prescribed but cause drowsiness which she dislikes. She is now more depressed and acts like she takes a nasty attitude pill everyday. She lives with me under hospice care for end stage congestive heart failure. It may be the end for me if she doesn t have something like Lexapro which at once time she called her Happy Pill ........I have done great research as has the pharmacist and we cannot come of with something stronger and acts like Lexparo. Your suggestions? At wits end......Kay, her daughter

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for using healthcare magic

In her case, she could take tianeptine. It is a antidepressant and safer in old age. It is a very effective antidepressant on patient with cardiac dysfunction. You can try tianeptine in her case. Better to consult your psychiatrist about the treatment. In case, you need further help, you can ask.

Thanks
